Rendr Partners with Council Member Susan Zhang to Distribute 300 Frozen Chickens in Bensonhurst to Celebrate Thanksgiving

Rendr together with City Council Member Susan Zhang, held a community food distribution event on Tuesday (Nov 25th) at Reaching Out Community Services in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, providing 300 frozen chickens along with food supplies and gifts to local residents in celebration of Thanksgiving.
Nearly twenty volunteers participated in the event, distributing the frozen chickens donated by Rendr, as well as rice, cooking oil, fresh produce, and practical gift bags containing tote bags, coin purses, and phone accessories. As early as two hours before the event began, long lines had already formed, including many elderly members of the Chinese community.
Council Member Susan Zhang noted that during the suspension of federal food assistance benefits, many residents seek help daily due to food shortages. This food distribution helped meet urgent needs. She emphasized that financial hardship should not result in a lower quality of life. Zhang presented commendation certificates to Rendr Medical Group and Reaching Out Community Services, encouraging more community organizations and businesses to fulfill their social responsibilities and provide meaningful support to those in need.
Joyce Xie, leader of New York State Assembly District 49, also pointed out that many seniors in the community are facing reductions or theft of their food assistance benefits. The mobile app used to lock EBT cards is difficult to use and lacks Chinese language support, making it inconvenient for older adults. She expressed gratitude to Reaching Out Community Services for providing food and noted that Council Member Zhang’s office also maintains an emergency food bank to bring hope to families in need during the holiday season.
Alex Mitchell, President and Chief Financial Officer of Rendr Medical Group, stated that food insecurity can lead to malnutrition, which over time increases the risk of chronic diseases and makes recovery more difficult when illness occurs. While Rendr is committed to providing high-quality healthcare services to the community, the organization also hopes to connect residents with social resources to support disease prevention and long-term health management.
According to Rendr, the company recently launched the “Rendr Cares” Community Outreach Program, with this food distribution serving as the first step. In the future, Rendr plans to offer a series of health lectures, free screenings, and other services focused on common health issues within the Chinese community.
